"Hugh Kennedy, brother of the Rev. James Kennedy,
Hugh claimed he married Eleanor Walker in 1807. After six months she delivered a baby of which Hugh was not the father. Hugh petitioned for a divorce, starting a long court struggle, which ended in 1815 (Tennessee Senate and House Journal, Sept 7 to Oct 21, 1812. Monday, October 12th, 1812, House of Representatives). Adam M. and James signed some papers for Hugh; James Kennedy and John Gibson were surety for Hugh and were sued by Eleanor (D 1810 Circuit 134/42 and P 1810 Circuit 134/42 box 1). I have found no record of Hugh paying any taxes or owning land. He disappears from the record in 1815. Eleanor accused him of woman chasing and false pretenses."

17 Sep 2010: E-mail from Eleanor Edmondson to Joyce Disharoon: "Comments: According to the 1776 MD State census the following data confirms that the first 6 issue of Joseph Hixson and Susannah (unknown) were born in MD are as follows: Andrew ca 1766 Frederick Co MD. He said on the 1860 MO census that he was 85 and born in MD.
William ca 1768 MD; Joseph ca 1770 MD; Timothy ca 1774 MD. This is the only surviving record for her; Susannah ca 1776 MD. She said the wrong age on the 1850 TN census, but she said born in MD. Other issue were born later. Perhaps, all were born in MD or some in TN. Have found only two living until the 1850 census."
17 Sep 2010 follow-up by Eleanor:
"I just got thru visiting with the head of the DAR Genealogy Dept. in Wash. last week. We were originally put into DAR with basically the correct data for Joseph Hixson. However, there was a cousin who entered the service record for a Joseph Hixson in Hunterdon Co., NJ which has caused any problems as well as a Hixson writing a wild idea in his book about a Hixson. I am tying to get DAR to give us back our Joseph's MD RW records and get rid of the Joseph from NJ. At present I can only document our Joseph Hixson in Frederick and Washington Cos. MD. Besides the census for his family there are MD deeds, MD tax records, MD RW service records, MD Oath to the US. I have found nothing thus far in NJ except the other Josephs. The rest of the issue were documented from the Will of Joseph in 1803. I noticed you had some people that are not his issue. Ephraim born ca 1778 MD; John born ca 1780 MD; Benjamin; James. There were only 10 kids documented between the census and the Will."
Note: There are two points of view on this issue, and both are working towards resolving the New Jersey vs. Maryland issue.

"In 1819 he bought 80- and 90- acre tracts on Swan Pond Creek from John Witt, bringing him up to 444 acres [including 274 acres bought on 1 March 1805]. He is shown with 444 acres in the 1826 Knox County tax list, and Kennedy heirs are shown with 444 acres in the 1827 and 1828 tax lists. Swan Pond Creek is in East Knox County in what is known as the Forks of the River area. Dr. J. G. M. Ramsey refers to property owned by James Kennedy located 'on the north side of the French Broad river about five miles above the Lebanon Church.' (J. G. M. From Barbara Brinkley's mother's research: Leta Seabourn, widow of Joseph Delano Seabourn, said that Oscar and his wife, Sadie, had been married only two months when Oscar was shot by the Doolin gang. Sadie was a schoolteacher and on this day was teaching at Cave Springs country school. A man rode out on horseback to tell her that Oscar had been shot. Sadie told Leta the same bullet went through Joseph C. (Oscar's brother) and then lodged in Oscar. It was never removed and Oscar was a cripple for the rest of his life. He died ten years later at Monette MO from lead poisoning caused by the bullet, Sadie said.
Ed Oscar Seabourn, grandson of Sadie, told me that Sadie remarried about four years after Oscar died. Joseph Delano, Ed's father, could not accept the fact of Sadie's second marriage; wouldn't go to the wedding and stayed outside all night, crying.
Helen, Ed's sister, said Sadie is buried beside her second husband, a Mr. Rock. Sadie said although she loved Oscar dearly, she didn't get to live with him but ten years before his death and wished to be buried beside Mr. Rock, as they lived together much longer. If she and Mr. Rock had any children, I was not told of any.
While attending the Seabourn reunion on June 21, 1981, Joseph Thornton Seabourn read this and he said this is a mistake about Sadie being buried by Mr. Rock; that she is buried by her two children, Joseph Delano and Joyce C. | Family: F9084

Information is from descendant Alex Campbell who is William and Mary Ann's great, great, great grandson.
He indicates that both William and Mary Ann King Campbell and her sister, Janet King and husband Patrick Burns, moved to what would become Alabama, Shelby County, about 1809.Their graves have not been located. William's wife and sons had large plantations in North Dallas County, AL. Many of the Campbell notes that Alex has were prepared by another descendant of William and Mary Ann and they are about 80 years old. Alex got some of the material when his cousin passed, but hurricane Katrina wiped most of them out.
The notes indicated that the Kings were related to the Crockett line and that the Campbell "boys" lived near him when he was young. There is also a note indicating that William King of North Carolina was John King's father. | Family: F587
